Edward V. Surprenant, 87, of Londonderry, NH passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Grace House in Windham, NH. He was born on December 6, 1925 in Haverhill, MA, a son of the late Israel and Eva (Lafreniere) Surprenant. Mr. Surprenant was a US Army WWII veteran, having served as a Corporal in the Engineers 322nd Combat Battalion and received the WWII Victory Medal as well as the American Theater Service Medal. He worked as an Engineer at Gillette in Andover, MA for over 20 years. Edward was an avid golfer and pool player. He was also a skilled woodworker. Mr. Surprenant and his wife greatly enjoyed becoming part of the Nevins community in Londonderry. Edward is loved and will be sadly missed by all his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Joan (Marcoux) Surprenant of Londonderry, his two children, Lisa Sylvester, her husband Wendell and their children Renee, Michelle and Aaron of Salem, NH, and Edward R. Surprenant, his wife Charlene and their children Cory, Marc and Scot of Wells, ME, six step-children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Claire Surprenant, nieces, nephews, and one great-niece. He was predeceased by his first wife Rosemary Surprenant in 1992, and two brothers Paul and Donald. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 23rd at 10:30am in St. Mark’s Church, corner or South Road and Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086.
